Originally 109 letter sets from Periodic Table of the Elements were created for the Children’s Activity Deck in 2009, now updated with addition of 10 new elements and relocated to both West Deck and under skylight area in children’s section. Organic pattern of stainless steel armature is inspired by the creek pattern in the city of Lafayette, supporting the hanging glass elements.

Reflections and colored shadow patterns from the glass pieces move across the floor and walls, giving small children an opportunity to witness natural light phenomena and optical illusions.
